Rotation on Openings

The Rotation field controls how much the foot block will rotate before cutting. Adjust the Rotation if you are getting Swoops or Flares in the corners on a non-oval opening.

If you have too much Rotation on a non-oval opening you will get a Flare, too little rotation and you will get a Swoop

Current Bevel Type

Select the desired Cartridge Type Tab and then the bevel type you want to edit from the Current Bevel Type dropdown control before making adjustments.

Select Current Bevel Type-Front of Mat if it is being cut from the front of the mat.

Degrees of Rotation for Non-Oval Openings

In Rotation, eight points equals one degree of rotation.

Users usually make adjustments four points at a time.

Increase the Rotation to turn the foot block clockwise to correct for a Swoop.

Decrease the Rotation to turn the foot block counterclockwise to correct for a Flare.

Opening has a Swoop

The beginning of the cut swoops toward the non-oval opening.

Increase the Rotation.

The object will now cut correctly.

When making adjustments, click either the minus or plus button (-/+) at the end of the desired field about five or six times in the direction indicated. Click OK and do a test cut. Check the results of the cut and continue making adjustments until the desired outcome is achieved.

Opening has a Flare

The beginning of the cut flares away from the non-oval opening.

Decrease the Rotation.

The object will now cut correctly.

When making adjustments, click either the minus or plus button (-/+) at the end of the desired field about five or six times in the direction indicated. Click OK and do a test cut. Check the results of the cut and continue making adjustments until the desired outcome is achieved.

Twisted Corner

Twisted Corner is when the blade turns before retracting from the matboard, which tears the matboard and twists the corner. This is especially visible from the back of the mat.

Check to make sure the Rotation hasn't been set to a high number.

Optionally, see the Clean the Foot Block procedure for information on cleaning the foot block.

Twisted corners can also be a symptom of oil/water in the Air Valve, or an issue with the Head. Check the Air Regulator for excess water.
