  • Though there seems to be every imaginable image in the CutArt categories, there is often one aspect that is not quite right. The cats in this example have a flat spot on the bottom so that the cat will nestle on the top of an opening.

  • The CutArt are usually set to Deboss or Pen and conceived to be small and detailed items that could be added anywhere in a mat design. Because of the highly understated nature of Deboss/Pen, they would not clutter the mat. Switching between Deboss/Pen is easy.

CutArt Sizes

Info

  • The Minimum Sizes for any Debossed item are suggestions based on the the Design Editor’s observation of how well the detail shows.

  • The Wizard will render any Debossed or Pen CutArt at any size without mechanical issues, but the figure may not be recognizable if all the segments are clumped together.

  • Set the sizes of these CutArt to whatever size the design dictates, but make a test cut to verify that the figure remains recognizable and that the details are clear enough to meet your standards.

A Note on Measurements

Info

  • The values for the spacing and the sizes are not the typical decimal equivalents for standard fractions.

  • They are values like 0.06 and 0.16 inch so that the arrangement will be as envisioned, rather than settling for what is possible using the usual sixteenth-inch increments.

  • Remember that you can hold the Alt key on the keyboard as you click the plus and minus buttons beside the measurement fields - and as you click the arrow keys on the keyboard to move items.

  • This will change the values only 0.01 inch per click (0.2mm in metric) instead of the usual sixteenth inch per click (1mm in metric).

  • When values are small, a few hundredths of an inch can be a big change.

Changing the Tools for CutArt

Info

  • All the CutArt in this collection are set to Deboss using the thin cartridge. Optionally, you can change it to use either of the other Debossing cartridges and even the Pen cartridge. These tips will be helpful for all CutArt, not just the CutArt in this collection.

Selecting a Different Debossing Cartridge

  • To change any of the CutArt to use a different Debossing cartridge, first select the CutArt.

  • Click on the Properties tab.

  • Click the dropdown arrow beside the Type field at the bottom left.

  • From the list that appears, select the Debossing cartridge you would like to use.

  • This CutArt will now use this Deboss cartridge.

Changing the Debossing Cartridge to the Pen Cartridge

  • To change any of the CutArt to use a Pen cartridge, first select the CutArt.

  • Click on the Properties tab.

  • Click the Cartridge Selection button at the bottom left, which currently reads Deboss.

  • From the dropdown control list that appears, select Pen.

  • Click the Type dropdown control and select the desired Pen from the list that appears.

  • This CutArt will now use this Pen.
