Selecting a Group of Openings and Merging Them

Grouping a selection of openings will treat the openings as one object. Any overlapping sections sharing the same bevel type will merge together.

How to Select the Openings

  • To select objects, click and draw a box around the desired group of objects.

  • Click Advanced Tab.

  • Click Group Selection.

  • Optionally, hold down the Shift or CTRL key and click on each object with the mouse to select them.

  • The openings with be grouped together and is now a single object.

  • Any overlapping parts sharing the same bevel type will merge together.

Ungroup Selection

The Merged Objects section allows the user to ungroup the currently grouped and merged objects.

  • The Ungroup Selection button ungroups and unmerges previously grouped and merged objects.

  • Ungrouped objects will also be unmerged from their merged state.

    Dimensions

    Use the Dimension Section to edit and/or lock the grouped object dimensions, set the X/Y positioning, or rotate the grouped object.

    Lock the size of the object to avoid adjusting it when dragging the mouse.

    • Click unlock to Lock the size of the current object. 

    • Click locked to Unlock the size of the current object.

    X and Y Position Fields

    Use the X/Y fields to move objects to specific horizontal/vertical coordinates.

    • Enter the new X position to move the selected object horizontally.

    • Enter the new Y to move the selected object vertically.

    Merge Paths

    The Merge Paths checkbox merges any overlapped openings into one opening.

    • Click Merge Paths to merge any overlapping openings.

    • Uncheck Merge Paths to group any overlapped openings but does not merge them.

    • This is useful if the user wants to bring the overlapped openings into Trace to manually merge them as desired.
