Hit the Spacebar on the keyboard to pause the cut.
Pausing the cut temporarily suspends the cutting process, which can then be restarted by selecting the desired function from the screen prompt.

Options > Enable Plunge Counts on the Cut Previewto toggle on the Plunge Count on the Cut Preview menu.
