Product keys can be used only once. If issued a product key for the CMC, install it on the CMC computer or it will run in demo mode with cutting disabled. |
Step 1: Start the Install from a CD | |

Insert the MatDesigner CD. Click to Run Start.exe. | |

Step 1: Start the Install from a Download | |
---|---|
Select to Save the download file. Select the desired directory in which to save the download zip file. Otherwise, it will download to your download directory which is usually:

After the zip file has downloaded, right-click on it and select Extract All. | |
Select the desired directory to extract the files, and click the checkbox for Show Extracted Files When Complete and click Extract. | |
When it has finished extracting the files, the directory will open. Double-click on Start.exe. | |
Follow the instructions on the screen to get to the MatDesigner Installation Main Screen. |
Step 2: Start the MatDesigner Install | |

Click on MatDesigner on the Main Screen to install the MatDesigner software. It may take a minute for the next screen to open. |
Step 3: Entering a Product Key | |
---|---|
If installing an update that needs no product key, the install will skip this screen and continue onto step 4. Otherwise, enter the product key provided (on the CD cover or emailed) for new installs or Versions prior to Version 5.4. If you click continue with no key entered, it will install a demo version with the cutting disabled. Click Continue. |
Step 4: Software License Agreement | |

Click Run on the Publisher Security Screen if displayed. | |
Click Next after the setup computes the space requirements. | |
Click the Accept checkbox on the End-User License Agreement screen and click Next. | |
Click Install on the Ready to Install MatDesigner 6x screen. The software will begin to install. This is a long install, so be patient. | |
After the software is installed, Click Finish. |
Step 5: Installing the Drivers | |

The drivers for the driver pack/ECU have been updated and must be installed. For optimum performance, drivers must be installed properly as described below. Locate the section that describes the shop’s driver pack/ECU below: | |
Beige 5000/8000 Driver Pack For beige driver pack, click on “5000/8000 Drivers - Beige” and follow the instructions on the screen. If it asks to reboot the computer after the install, click cancel. After installation continue with | |

Black ECU For black ECU, follow the Installing ECU Drivers instructions below. | |
Installing ECU DriversTurn off the ECU and unplug the USB Cable from the ECU. | |
It is necessary to turn off and unplug the ECU otherwise the ECU memory will not clear and the drivers installation will NOT take full effect. | |
On the Wizard USB Install Screen, Click Next. | |
After it finishes installing, click Finish on the driver installer screen, which will return to the Installation Screen. | |
New Hardware FoundThe Found New Wizard MUST be run through TWICE. The first time installs the drivers for the ECU, the second time installs the firmware for the ECU. If you do not run through the Found New Hardware Wizard both times, the ECU may not function properly. | |
Plug in the USB Cable to the ECU and turn on the ECU. | |
The Found New Hardware Wizard will start up. Click Next. The software will begin to install. | |
User may see two Warning Screens; click CONTINUE ANYWAY on both screens. | |
When the install has finished, click Finish on the Completing Found New Hardware Wizard. The Found New Hardware Wizard will start up again. Repeat the Found New Hardware steps above. When the system asks to reboot, click Cancel. We will reboot at the end. |
Step 6: Installing the Manuals | |

Click Install Manuals to install the hardware/software manuals. If you do not install the manuals, they cannot be accessed through the software. | |
Click Run on the Publisher Security Screen if displayed. Click Next on the Welcome to the MatDesigner Setup Wizard screen. | |
Click the Accept checkbox on the End-User License Agreement screen and click Next. Click Install on the Ready to Install MatDesigner 6x screen. The software will begin to install. This is a long install, so be patient. After the Manuals are installed, Click Finish. |
Step 7: Issued a new Product Key you have not entered? | |

If issued a NEW product key and haven’t entered it, click Enter Product Key. Enter product key and click Continue then OK. |
Step 8: Click Exit | |

The software is now installed. Click Release Notes, Getting Started, or Editor Tutorial documents if desired. Click Exit to exit from the MatDesigner installer. Place the Installation CD in a safe place, if applicable. REBOOT the computer. |
Step 9: Activate the Software | |
---|---|
When you open the MatDesigner software, the License Activation screen will display. Click Next. | |
Select Automatic. It will connect via your ISP, or if not connected, it will manually dial in. Click Next. | |
License Activation screen confirms software is activated. Click Finished. The software is now ready to go. |
