How to Increase the Head Pressure and Speed Reduction to Cut Dense 8-Ply with the 45°+ Cartridge |
---|
|
The Head Air Regulator is located on the left side of the Head and controls the Air Pressure of the Footblock against the matboard as it is cutting. The software will prompt for a Head pressure change only if the current mat is a different setting than the previously cut mat. If the settings are the same as the previously cut mat, the CMC will skip the following instructions and proceed to cut the mat.

| |
| |
Unselect No Automatic Speed Reduction for Depth of 16 and Above to let the CMC automatically reduce speed when cutting thicker material with the 45°+ Cartridge. NOTE: Depending upon the thickness and density of the matboard, you may get better cuts by slowing down the cuts.
| |
If you are having difficulty cutting through the current 8-Ply, you could further slow the cutting down by entering the desired Cut Speed Percentage for each Cartridge type, such as the 45°+ Cartridge. Take care not to slow it too much or it might struggle to cut through the material. When that particular Cartridge is used next, it will use the new Cut Speed entered. Slowing down the Cut Speed can help when cutting thick material or intricate designs to help prevent the Head from skipping on tight corners. Click OK.

Click on the Blade Depth button to open the Blade Depth screen. Change the Blade Depth to the appropriate setting for this matboard. The Blade Depth must be above 16 in order for the CMC to prompt for the 45°+ Cartridge. Click OK.

| |
Click Cut to cut the mat and Align the Head if requested. The Head plunges at the Home position and applies the current Pressure. It then displays a prompt to adjust the Head Pressure to the High Setting.
| |
| |
Turn the Air Regulator Pressure Knob clockwise until the marker on the Gauge is at the High setting, as indicated by the bracket to the right of the Air Pressure Gauge. For Head Air Regulators that go up to 60 psi, set it to 60 psi. For Head Air Regulators that go up past 80 psi, set it to 80 psi. The maximum air pressure should be less than or equal to 80 psi to avoid crushing the matboard.

| |
Set it by pushing the Air Regulator Pressure Knob back in. Click OK to cut the mat with this setting. NOTE: Cutting through 8-Ply will wear out the Blade faster than when cutting 4-Ply. Make sure to change the Blade often.
