A Guide is a Red line marker which can direct the motion or positioning of objects.

The sides and centers of Objectscan snap to the Guide Lines.

Click on the Ruler around the design and drag toward the center to place a Guide.

Select the Guide and click Properties to edit the position or drag it where desired.

Applying the Guide to the Top Layer

  • Click the Positioning Toggle to Top.

  • Place the Guide by right-clicking on the opening and selecting the Guide direction.

  • New Vertical Guide

    • Left

    • Middle

    • Right

  • New Horizontal Guide

    • Top

    • Middle

    • Bottom

  • The Guide will be placed on the Top layer of the opening.

New Guide Button

  • Select the opening.

  • Click the New Guide button on the Alignment tab.

  • Select the desired direction and placement to place a Guide onto the Editor.

    • New Vertical Guide

      • Left

      • Middle

      • Right

    • New Horizontal Guide

      • Top

      • Middle

      • Bottom

  • The Guide is placed in the specified position of the opening.

  • Note: To place a Guide a specified distance to the Inside of an object, select New Guide From Other and select the desired direction and placement, using negative numbers.

To Place Guide a Specified Distance from an Object:

  • Select the desired object.

  • Click the New Guide button.

  • Optionally, right-click on the opening and select the Guide.

  • Select New Guide From Other.

  • On the Add Other Guide select the desired Direction checkbox for the Guide.

  • Enter the Distance from the opening to place the Guide.

  • Click OK.

  • Several Guides can be placed at the same time with this screen.

  • Negative Numbers can be entered to place a Guide within the opening.

Auto Alignment

  • Auto Alignment can be toggled on the Edit Menu.

  • This can also be used to assist with aligning openings in additional to Guides.

This can be toggled on/off in the Options menu for Designer and Trace.
