The configuration mat is loaded to cut.

Cut the mat from the designated side of the mat with the desired cartridge.

It will cut a 2” opening with 2” borders; don’t cut the outside.

Mark an X in lower left corner of mat and opening on the cutting side before removing from CMC.

Look at the cuts. Do any of the cuts go too far? Are any of the cuts too short?

To make adjustments, click on the configurations button and select the appropriate cartridge tab, and select the bevel type from current bevel type on the configuration screen.

Backups and Overcuts

The backups and overcuts control where the blade plunges in and retracts from the matboard.

Image Added

Exterior Backup is where blade plunges into the matboard.

Increase exterior backup to make the cut longer.

Decrease exterior backup to make the cut shorter.

Exterior Overcut

Exterior Overcut is where blade comes out of the matboard.

Increase exterior overcut to make the cut longer.

Decrease exterior overcut to make the cut shorter.

Interior Backup

Increase interior backup to make the cut longer.

Decrease interior backup to make the cut shorter.

Interior Overcut

Interior Overcut is where blade comes out of the fallout (i.e., French Stairs).

Increase interior overcut to make the cut longer.

Decrease interior overcut to make the cut shorter.

Opening Adjustment

Measure the width of the opening from the cutting side to make sure it is 2”. If it is not, change the opening adjustment.

Image Added

Increase opening adjustment if opening is cutting too narrow.

Decrease opening adjustment if opening is cutting too wide.

Rotation

Rotation is how much the head rotates before cutting. Rotating the blade a few degrees eliminates curves at the beginning of the cut. This value does not affect circles and ovals.

Determine if the problem is a swoop or a flare.

If the beginning of the cut swoops in toward the opening, add rotation.

Image Added

For swoops, increase the rotation. Increasing rotation turns head clockwise.

Image Added

If the beginning of the cut flares out away from the opening, reduce the rotation.

Image Added

For flares, decrease the rotation. Decreasing rotation turns head counterclockwise.
